AVAILALBE DOG(S) / WAITING LIST / ADOPTION PROCESS

Availalbe dog(s)

A lot is involved, behind the scenes to Rescue, Rehome and Adopt the 'perfect' Trained Golden.

According to AKC, Golden Retrievers are the 3rd most popular breed in the US.  Because of this, thankfully there are very few that are caught or surrendered to Shelters across the US.  When Goldens are available in Shelters, in many cases, they are adopted within minutes or hours.

Simply put, Golden Retrievers aren't excess inventory and constantly 'in stock' like a can of soup at your local grocery store.

Once we are able to rescue a Golden, it may take months of medical care, reconditioning, behavior modifiction, then personaized training to get the dog to the level that we then call it a Trained Golden.

Our service is not high volume, but a high quality service, thus we have a waiting list and our Trained Goldens are in high demand.

We are excited to introduce to you ...

Hilton

no longer available

Hilton information:

  • Vets have estimated his age to be 5-6 yeras old

  • Weights approximately 95 pounds

  • Very strong and muscular.

  • Large blocky head.

  • We have not run a DNA test, but he is either a purebred, or very close to being a 100% Golden.

  • Was found wandering the streets in the high desert of San Bernandino County (CA) and picked up by Animal Control, and rescued by Trained Goldens.

  • Hilton has been: neutered, micro chipped, given full shots.

  • Had Kennel Cough and treated for approx 4 weeks once rescued.

  • Treated for tape worms.

  • While being fostered, has not run away, but while exploring, wandered away, and lost twice.  We highly suggest a GPS tracker!

  • Hilton is more of a couch potato but loves his daily walks.

  • Loves to play in the park.

  • He would be happy being an indoor dog and having access to a yard.

  • Mosty likely, in the past, was an indoor dog (pads are very soft).

  • Friendly to all people (young, old, male, female) and loves playing with other dogs.

  • He would be okay being the only dog, or in a home with other dogs.

  • Very submissive passive attitude (loves to roll over and expose chest).

  • VERY sweet personality. We have kept him longer than any other foster because he is so loving and having a hard time giving him up.

  • Hilton will come to us after every meal and thank us for the food.

  • Loves to fetch sticks and tennis balls, but not really into other toys.

  • A little possessive with sticks and balls, but no guarding.

  • He has a beautiful fine lite and golden hair coat.

  • Beautiful light brown eyes and has amazing eye contact.

  • Like many Goldens, constantly shedding.

  • Has show quality feathering,

  • Loves, loves, loves and craves human contact.  Even while being rubbed, will place his paw on us.

  • Ideally, he would love to sleep with his new family.

  • Likes to muzzle to get rubbed.

  • Likes to be very close (head on lap, chest, nose on laptop, etc).

  • Sometimes invades personal space (will stick his nose 6" away from face).

  • Slightly fearful of falling objects (most likely some trauma in his background).

  • Survived 4th of July fireworks with no negative response.

  • Has barked at and chased the UPS and trash truck.

  • Not a barker but has barked at people coming to the door.

  • Loves car rides.

  • Good teeth but could use a professional cleaning.

  • Indifferent to and tolerates Vet visits, grooming, baths, nail trimming, brushing.

  • Training is going slow but Hilton is becoming a very obedient Trained Golden.

  • He has some minor bumps on his nose.

  • He is hesitant with doorways.  He will sit at a doorway till told he can enter/exit.

The fee may vary in cost.

We ask that all family members that will have contact with the dog, participate. This Meet and Greet can take 1-3 hours and this is your opportunity to interact with the dog, see its training level, ask any questions, hopefully fall in love with him/her, and decide if you are ready for a life long adoption. Please understand that we have many good families ready to adopt, however we are looking for the best family for each specific Trained Golden.  If you are out of the Southern California area, you will be required to travel to us, for this step in the adoption process. 95% of the time, if you want to adopt, you will be able to take the Trained Golden home with you right then.
